As a solo performer and composing musician I've been featured domestically and abroad from festivals in NY to workshops in Berlin, Germany and conferences in Belfast, N. Ireland. In May of 2016 I completed my Ph.D in music composition from Duke University with a focus on weaving emerging interactive technologies into conventional classical performance. I attended the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University for my master's and for my bachelor's I studied cello performance and music composition at the University of Arizona. -------------------------------------- In 2008 my piece for mixed septet ‘Divergence’ won the ASCAP Foundation’s Morton Gould Young Composer Award. ‘Fallen Soldier’, a composition for solo cello, has been performed and featured on PRI (Public Radio International). The piece ‘Thetastate’ was recorded at SoundPure Studios in Durham, NC by the jazz trio The Bad Plus in conjunction with their residency with Duke Performances. Other ensembles that have recorded/performed my music include Speculum Musicae, the Duke New Music Ensemble, the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Wet Ink Ensemble. -------------------------------------- I teach privately across my three disciplines; guitar/ukulele, cello and composition. I've taught college courses and labs on ear training, music theory and electronic music at Duke and Rice University. I'm a multi-instrumentalist that is neither constrained by musical difficulty nor genre distinction. -------------------------------------- It has been both a pleasure and a privilege to devote my life to music. Music is my life-force and it electrifies my soul to help others realize their musical potential. If you would like to know more about my musical background, my teaching methods or you have a burning question, please don't hesitate to reach out and drop a line. I'd love to help you make strides toward your musical goals.
