I am Rani Ray , an urban sketcher and a watercolor artist living in Cary .I am a self taught artist and my work is inspired by an overwhelming urge to capture the beauty and the environment of the villages, the city corners , the alleyways and landscapes that my travels have taken me to.
I use pen, ink and watercolor to create my paintings. I am always fascinated with the transformative effect that light has on a painting - I am constantly striving to learn how to capture its magic on paper . I love the subtle vibrancy of watercolor paintings. I am greatly inspired by the works of Henri Matisse, Sisley, Monet, Cezanne but my absolute favourite are two artist Jean Jacques Sempe and Gaganendranath Tagore.
I paint everyday to carve out a happy space for myself where I feel I am at peace. Take a peek into my watercolor sketches and I hope you feel the same joy as I felt creating them.
